Who we are

Muhr & Söhne GmbH & Co.KG was founded in 1934 by Heinrich W. Muhr in Attendorn/Westphalia as a company for sheet metal processing and galvanizing. In the 1960s, the production of steelplate packaging was expanded to include tinplate packaging; starting in the late 1970s, the first approvals for hazardous goods packaging were obtained.

Today, the business is managed by Michael J. Muhr in second generation. At three production sites in Attendorn (NRW) and Ohrdruf (Thuringia) we employ approx. 220 people. With a production area of 50,000 m² and more than 20 production lines, we manufacture containers in 12 different nominal diameters for filling quantities from 1 to 250 liters (0.25 – 66 US gal). We provide our customers with more than 100 different approvals for a wide range of solid and liquid hazardous materials and additionally a large selection of standard packaging for non-dangerous goods.

What we offer

Our product range consists of a comprehensive spectrum of tight head and open head containers in cylindrical and conical designs.

We use tinplate to produce buckets, pails and cans from 1 to 34 liters (0.25 – 9 US gal) and 2-component packaging from 1 to 22 liters (5.8 gal). Packaging made of steelplate is produced as tight head pails and drums from 6 to 250 liters (1.5 – 66 US gal) and as open head pails and drums in conical or cylindrical design from 6 to 223 liters (59 gal) .

In addition, we offer semi-automatic and fully automatic closing systems for single packaging and 2-component systems, both for one-off closure (MuhrLock) and reclosable (MuhrReLock). Currently, we support more than 100 closing systems in operation at our customers' sites worldwide.
